2. Leave all equipment alone. (respectful)
3. Participate in all activities. (resourceful)
4. RESPECT EVERYONE.
(Keep all hands & feet to yourself)
5. NO gum, candy, or drinks. (respectful)
UNIFORMS
Each student is expected to wear gym clothing, which does not restrict movement for selected activities
T-shirts & shorts (black – white – burgundy - gray) are required and must be tucked in during class. ATHLETIC SHOES ARE REQUIRED. Anyone not wearing appropriate clothing will be given the opportunity to change clothes. Points will be taken off for being improperly dressed.
EVALUATION OF PUPIL PROGRESS
A student’s final grade will be determined by using the following procedures:

50% Participation
25% Physical fitness testing
25% Written tests / Skills tests
ATTENDANCE & GRADING
It is very important for students to be present at every physical education class and to be on time. Lack of participation will result in the loss of that class periods points. The following scale will be used to determine participation.
All students receive 10 points per class period
Tardy,-5 points, Absent, -5 points. Not dressed properly, -10 points, Lack of participation,
-10 points, Breaking rules -1 to -10 points,
PHYSICAL FITNESS TESTING:
Physical fitness testing will be comprised of 4 different physical tests. Push-ups, sit-ups, mile run, & shuttle run. Each test will be 25 points; half of the points will be based on effort while the other half will be based on scores. Test scores will be based on Nebraska Physical Education standards.
Skills Testing:
Students will be graded on performing skills in the activities they participate in. Students will be evaluated by the teacher and or peers in their class. The skills rubric is as follows:
Skills Rubric:
1 = Shows no skill / not willing to try
2 = Shows skill however needs improvement
3 = Shows basic skills and is successful more that 50% of the time
4 = Shows skill and is successful 75% of the time
5 = Shows skill and goes above and beyond basic skills
Sportsmanship/Participation Rubric:
1 = Constantly puts people down and has negative attitude
2 = Negative attitude/Unwilling to participate
3 = Neutral attitude / participates with complaints
4 = Good attitude / Participates with no complaints
5 = Positive attitude encourages others / Participates with full effort

All students with excuse notes from home will dress out for class and participate according to the note. Notes should state the reason the student is to be excused from activity. If a student is to be excused for more than one day, a doctor's note or athletic trainer’s note will be required. Students who are to be excused from activity for a period of time may be assigned alternate activities. Students are responsible for making up any missed work; however, they will not be penalized for participation missed. The teacher and nurse will handle special “excuse” situations.
* Extra Credit will only be available upon student’s request. It will be either a physical or written assignment. (Max of 10 points)
NO GUM, FOOD, OR DRINK WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE GYM!!
GENERAL 45-MINUTE PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS
5 minutes Take attendance and dress out
10 minutes Stretch, Push-ups, Sit-ups, and Fitness Activity
25 minutes Sports lesson
5 minutes Shower & Dress
